Qigong for Exploring Whole Body Prayer

  • Ended

Service Description

Qigong (pronounced ‘chi gong’) is sometimes described as “mindfulness in motion.” It was developed thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. The practice involves using exercises, postures, and movements to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and wellness. It also is useful as a contemplative practice that engages our moving center. In this class (offered over three consecutive Wednesday evenings in November) we will learn a set of Qigong postures and movements. Our focus will be around the themes of stillness, prayer, and gratitude. Teddy Garnder will be our teacher. She has practiced Qigong for almost 10 years. She is a certified Holden Qigong teacher and holds an MA in Education. She is committed to sharing this movement practice along with other mindfulness tools foundational for reducing stress, burnout, and enhancing resiliency. We will meet on Zoom on three Wednesday evenings in November from 6:30 to 8pm. (Each session is 90 minutes.) Teddy will teach us a specific set of postures and movements and give us a video to practice between sessions. The course fee is $75. (If you want to try Qigong once, you may also register for the single session of November 1 for $25 before committing to the entire series.) Join us. November 1 ~ November 8 ~ November 15 ~ Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8pm Pacific Time
