Franciscan Spiritual Center
Labyrinth, Simple Supper & Taize
Service Description
Join us next Friday, September 1, for a summer evening of contemplative prayer and fellowship. Come early (during the 5-6pm hour) as we host space for a labyrinth walk. If you’ve never walked a labyrinth before, come at 5pm when Val Hornburg (FSC board member and trained labyrinth facilitator) provides an orientation. Or simply arrive and engage in your own walking prayer. Arrive at 6pm for a simple summer supper, which will be set out buffet style. We host this inside our main offices in Saint Catherine’s Hall (at 3159 Furman Drive on the former Marylhurst campus). Join us in making community around a common table. At 7pm we will gather for a Franciscan-hosted prayer service in the style of Taizé. If weather permits, we again will sit outside for this service. If the weather does not permit, we will gather inside instead. Either way, the Taizé service will be hosted at Clark Commons at 3162 Furman Drive, which is steps away from our offices and near the blue umbrellas. Join us in this prayerful form of music known for its stillness, depth, and meditative quality. The number of musicians who have come to support our prayer is growing and last month we discovered both the songs of the birds as well as some sign language to support the movement of prayer in our midst. We will not host the labyrinth space this month, but we do plan to offer it again on the first Friday of September. This is a free event but please RSVP below so we may prepare enough food and set out enough chairs for you. Use the button below to RSVP or send us an email at info@francisspctr.com. We are so glad to discover and relish community with you.
