Service Description

A community of retreatants gathered at the Franciscan Spiritual Center last winter to explore the transformative potency of these times – both it’s potential and our purpose. We now continue with three gatherings to deepen our reflection. New participants are welcome! Save the dates, register now, and join us. October 21 ~ November 18 ~ January 20 (all Saturdays), from 10am – 12:30pm. When we last met, three wisdom teachers facilitated our gathering by introducing ways of perceiving these times. They offered supportive guidance in integrating a new understanding into our lives. Together we explored our potential roles and commitments in contributing to a greater good. An objective of these first gatherings was to find common language, recognize what already resonated within us, and meet one another. We invite you now to join us in a continued conversation. Our objectives and format will shift to support the gathered group’s wisdom and discovery. We intend to deepen and sustain our inquiry through mutual support. We will meet in person at the Franciscan Spiritual Center on three Saturdays, beginning in October. We invite you to join all the gatherings so we may foster a common wisdom practice. If you weren’t with us last winter but want to join now, you are welcome. One of our facilitators will answer questions you have. Our facilitators, Karen Beal (of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest), Jack Kennedy (educator and retreat leader formed in the Ignatian tradition), and Mark Lesniewski (formed in both the Franciscan and contemplative Buddhist tradition), are all spiritual directors with a combined 75 years of experience between them in listening to and for the movements of the Divine in people’s lives. What is most striking about our three facilitators is how they’ve formed a deep friendship and commitment to one another. Together they’ve grappled with the realities of this era and clarified a hope and faith rooted within them. The “Soulful Song” gatherings have been born out of these three people acting in community. You are invited to join. Bring your gifts, histories, and good will. This retreat will meet over four months on three Saturdays. Franciscan Spiritual Center 3159 Furman Drive, Marylhurst, OR 97036 (We meet in Saint Catherine’s hall on the former Marylhurt University campus.) The retreat fee (for the series) is $60. Saturdays, October 21, November 18, and January 20, from 10am – 12:30pm We gather in person.
