If you (or a loved one) is wrestling with the prospect of aging in place, Mary Jo Saavedra is facilitating an online retreat to support you. Creating a viable plan involves naming our hopes and concerns, accessing information and resources, beginning prudent planning, and allowing oneself the opportunity to dream with the support of a community. Mary Jo Saavedra will lead this online retreat. She is suited for this role in the best of ways. She is a professional in the subject matter. She has lived her own experience of it. She is gifted in her capacity to support people as they face their own fears and hesitations. The value of approaching this subject matter in a retreat format includes the gentle removal of obstacles (often born of fear) and the conscious crafting of our plans before crisis hits (and options are removed by circumstance). Hosting this course in a retreat-like format means we can better draw on our best selves in considering what is available, what is essential, and what brings life. With a trained and gifted facilitator at the helm, it also means there is safety in naming and approaching what frightens us without it overwhelming us. Mary Jo’s presentation includes methods, approaches, and best practices that can be learned, adapted, and lived. As a trained spiritual director with a commitment to Franciscan values, Mary Jo will bring a nurturing heart and attention to your story and to building community in this online program. It is important to remember we are not alone as we age. This retreat (over three Saturday mornings in September) will be hosted on Zoom. We will gather on three consecutive Saturdays on September 16, 23, and 30, from 9-11am Pacific time. The retreat fee is $75.
