Service Description

Join us on the second Wednesday of November (11/8) from 6-7:30pm for a new kind of gathering at the Franciscan Spiritual Center. We will meet in the early evening with Paula Gamble-Grant to consider and discuss her book, A Wild and Precious Advent. This will be an opportunity to meet the author (who may be new to many of you and a treasured teacher and friend to many others). Terry Cappiello, our facilitator in these gatherings with creative souls, will engage Paula in a discussion of her process and delve into what observations she drew on to craft this book. There will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and join the discussion. This book is devotional in nature. Paula uses the Carmelite themes of Waiting, Accepting, Journeying, and Birthing as entry points into Advent preparation and contemplation. Use it as a resource to lean in and listen to the deep longings of your own wild and precious soul in one of the busiest seasons of the year. Paula is a spiritual director who specializes in Focusing Oriented Spiritual Direction (FOSD). She facilitates retreats, leads pilgrimages, writes books, and offers a listening to presence to others. She is an alumna and friend of the Franciscan Spiritual Center. Terry Cappiello is a former mental health counselor, special education teacher, board member for the Franciscan Center, and retreat leader. She is also an avid reader and a beloved book group leader. We will meet in person at the Franciscan Spiritual Center on the Marylhurst Commons campus.
