Join us on the second Wednesday of September (9/13) from 6-7:30pm for a new kind of gathering at the Franciscan Spiritual Center. We will gather in the early evening with Margaret Townsend to consider and discuss her beautiful book, The Breathwork Companion: Unlock the Healing Power of Breathing. It will be an opportunity to meet the author, hear about her process and observations, and consider the invitations that arise as we ponder how close and accessible our connection is with God’s manifest love. Margaret, a resident of Portland, has developed a 30 year expertise in the field of breathwork. She leads workshops and retreats, works individually in one-on-one sessions, writes, and teaches. She is a regular presenter to the Spiritual Direction Training Program of the Franciscan Spiritual Center. Because of her expertise she was invited to write and publish this book. The Breathwork Companion is a practical and accessible guide outlining a program of exercises, true stories, and prompts aimed at giving readers the skills they need to build and maintain a healing breath practice. This body of work is about wellness, for sure. It can be used to achieve calm, increase energy, clarify thinking, and release stress and tension in the body/mind. It is also a companion to those on spiritual journey and can be used as a way to practice the embodiment available to us in our faith traditions. Terry Cappiello will facilitate this conversation with Margaret. You are invited to participate in this conversation as a time for questions will be available. Terry is a former mental health counselor, special education teacher, a board member for the Franciscan Center, and one of our retreat leaders. She is also an avid reader and a beloved book group leader. This is a “pay what you want” event, which means it is free or you may make a donation to support the Franciscan Center’s ministry. We will meet in person at the Franciscan Spiritual Center on the Marylhust campus.
