A Home that Holds Us
Creating Beauty, Hospitality & Franciscan Spiritual Aliveness as We Age
Available spots
Service Description
Our homes shape how we feel, how we connect with others, and how we experience daily life. What makes a home feel welcoming, peaceful, and nourishing? In this online experiential workshop, we’ll explore the Danish concept of hygge—creating comfort, warmth, and connection through simple pleasures. Drawing on Franciscan values of simplicity, hospitality, gratitude, and care for creation, we’ll reflect on how our living spaces support our physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing, especially as we age. Through guided reflection and an interactive exercise, you’ll consider what makes your home feel life-giving, what may no longer serve you, and what small changes could bring greater comfort, beauty, connection, or meaning to your everyday life. This isn’t a workshop about decorating or downsizing. It’s an opportunity to consider how your home can better reflect what matters most and support the life you want to live. A Home that Holds Us Facilitated by Mary Jo Saavedra Mary Jo Saavedra helps people see the second half of life as a time of continued growth, discovery, and possibility. Drawing on her professional background in gerontology and spiritual direction, she invites people to reflect on the wisdom of their lived experiences and remain open to what comes next.
