Centering Prayer In-Person Group

Service Description

Join us on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month for a Centering Prayer Group. Contemplative Outreach of Portland hosts this group at the Franciscan Spiritual Center. Come early for tea and to get settled in. We gather at 9:30am and will finish by noon. This is an ongoing group and you may join anytime. Centering Prayer is a receptive method of silent prayer in which we experience God's presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. For those with an existing contemplative practice, this is an opportunity to meet with others and practice together. For those who are unfamiliar with Centering Prayer, this is an opportunity to learn about it and begin your practice. The Franciscan Spiritual Center is located on the grounds of the former Marylhurst University. We gather in our main offices in Saint Catherine’s hall at 3152 Furman Drive, Marylhurst, Oregon 97036. This is a free event. A suggested donation of $5 will help us cover costs but join us whether you can pay or not. Please RSVP by booking below if you are able, drop ins also welcome.
